POWER SUPPLY TO NEW PIPING YARD FROM TOTAL MAIN BASE PROJECT

The work entailed the laying of a medium voltage cable from TOTAL Base Electrical Substation 3 in Trans Amadi to the New Pipe Yard. The contractor, QED International (Oil & Gas) Nigeria Ltd was required to procure and lay about 800m length of  4 x (1x 240 sq mm) XLPE power cable of 11 KV –Kable metal grade.

Following instructions by the state authorities that no road should be cut open, the cable routing involved the use of thrust boring of about three road crossings, concrete manholes and cable trench excavation was carried out. The cable was terminated on TOTAL Base substation on a 400A Schneider electric breaker supplied and installed by QED International (Oil & Gas) Nigeria Ltd, the input to this breaker is taken from the Bus bar at Substation 3 and on the New Pipe Yard side the cable was terminated on a new change over switch through a 400A Schneider electric breaker with cubicle and control handle supplied and installed by contractor.

All Project activities were done in accordance with the provisions/specifications of the 2015 Total GS and Relevant IEC Specifications including but not limited to Electrical Cables – GS EP ELE 161,Electrical Installations – GS EP ELE 364,Contract Site Electrical Installations – GS EP ELE 374.
